1979年東京都生まれ。ESMOD東京校を卒業後、国内コレクションブランドで経験を積み、2008年渡仏。フ リーランスデザイナーとして国内外のブランドで活動し、2020年にCaravel.LLC.を設立。国内外のブランド ディレクションとデザインを手掛ける。2020年よりカネマサ莫大小株式会社より発足した和歌山県和歌山市 を拠点にする丸編みニットメーカーのオリジナルブランド「KANEMASA PHIL.(カネマサ フィル)」クリ エイティブ・ディレクター に就任。
Born in Tokyo in 1979. After graduating from ESMOD Tokyo, Kengo Baba gained experience working with domestic fashion collection brands before relocating to France in 2008. As a freelance designer, he contributed to various brands both domestically and internationally. In 2020, he founded Caravel LLC., where he has been directing and designing for brands worldwide. Since 2020, he became the creative director of “KANEMASA PHIL.”, an original brand of a circular knitwear manufacturer based in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, which was established by KANEMASA KNITTING CO., LTD.

KANEMASA PHIL. は、1964年創業のカネマサ莫大小株式会社より発足した歌山県和歌山市を拠点にする丸編みニットメーカーのオリジナルブランドです。 ハイゲージに特化した独⾃の編機、様々な柄を⾃由に表現できるジャガード機、これらの編機を⾃在に操る特有の技術、職⼈技を未来に存続させるために、年SSシーズンから、自社ブランド KANEMASA PHIL.は誕生しました。「FUTURE CLASSIC / FUTURE VINTAGE（フューチャークラシック/フューチャーヴィンテージ）」をコンセプトに、私たちは“いま”考える未来の服を創造します。 未来のことを考え、そして、着る人が心地良く、楽しく、ハッピーな気持ちになるワードローブを提供します。 これまで私たちが培い、築き上げた、イノベーション、クリエイティビティ、クラフトマンシップ、伝統が反映されたKANEMASAの製品は、素材からデザインまで妥協することはありません。
KANEMASA PHIL. is a private label of Kanemasa Knitting Co., Ltd. a circular knit manufacturer founded in 1964 based in Wakayama City, in Wakayama Prefecture which is the largest producer of knitted fabrics in Japan. Kanemasa’s private label KANEMASA PHIL. . was born in the SS season in order to preserve the unique skills and craftsmanship to manipulate the company’s own high gauge knitting machines or Jacquard machines capable of creating freely expressed various patterns. The brand’s iconic logo was designed by Clément Johanet, blending the historical background of the 1960s, when the company was first founded, with European culture.
